Into the woods

So I never imagined Meryl Streep as a witch in a musical... I must say. Nether Emily Blunt singing and Johnny Depp as a wolf! That is a little bit of what u will see in Into the woods.

This film is an adaptation of the musical Into the Wood, made by Stephen Sondheim, to film. The story is a mash up of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk. It reminded me to the tv serie Once Upon a Time, which I recommend to watch by the way.

The story is about a couple (Emily Blunt and James Corden) with no children that must find a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold; in orden to break a curse and be able to have a baby. These objects were chosen by the witch (Meryl Streep) and they have limited time to find them, and achieve their goal. In their search for these objects, they cross roads with Cinderella, Jack, Prince Charming, Rapunzel....

Everyone on the film is great. The actors commented that the director looked for actor that could sing, and not singers that could act. The hair and make up design and costumes were very beautiful and helped a lot to give live to these characters. When you watch the film, it's like being transported to a fairy tale land. Rob Marshall, the director, was the ONE who could put all these actors, designers... together.

The movie was nominated for the Golden Globes in the categories of Best Actress (Emily Blunt), Best Supporting Actress (Meryl Streep) and Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. And also for the Academy Awards in the categories of  Best Supporting Actress (Streep - now she has 19 nominations for the Oscar with 3 won), Costume and Design, and Production Design.

I leave a video of Into the Wood in the 1988  Tony Awards for you to enjoy!!
